Sonrise Church...Reaching Out to the Burmese Community!
School Supplies Collection!
July 18 & 25 we will be collecting School Supplies for the Burmese in the lobby of Sonrise Church in Fort Wayne and Roanoke.
Items needed are:
- backpacks
- rulers
- calculators
- spiral notebooks
- graph paper
- folders
- markers
- pencils
- colored pencils
- crayons, pens (red, blue and black)
- highlighters (any color)
- dry erase markers (blue,red, and black)
- scissors
- index cards
- filler paper
- binders
- 3 ring folders
- glue sticks
- Elmer's glue
You can buy some items on the list, OR you can buy a backpack and fill it with one of each item on the list!
On going Event: The 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Volunteers staff a store where the refugees can get food, clothing
and other supplies at no cost. The store is located in the Burma House
behind Fort Wayne Baptist Church on Fairfield Avenue.
When the refugees first arrive to the U.S., they come with a "suitcase" and the clothes
on their backs. So, we try to provide them with the necessities for setting up a
household. We are in need of gently used children's clothing,non-perishable food items,
starter dishes, cookware, utensils, bedding, and hygiene items.
(We are not currently taking clothes for adult refugees.
When we begin to accept those again we will post it here.)
